Just a quick update. Wanted to say that I had an amazing time with your students yesterday as we watched the Eclipse, hope everyone else enjoyed it as well.
I should have first grades up on the website tonight. As a quick reminder we will have "Meet the Teacher" Night tomorrow night from 5pm-8pm. Looking forward to meeting many new people. Team Valor is working on getting up a Weekly Newsletter, which will be emailed out as well as posted here. We are also working on getting a Facebook page as well to share information and keep you all posted on what's going on. Thanks, and just for fun here is a pic I took of the Eclipse yesterday!

Hi Parents and Students,
Just touching base from Mr. D's Class. Last Week was a different sort of week in our class, we had to take 3 Days to do an assignment where we looked at a piece of text and without it explicitly saying "Advantages" or "Disadvantages" students had to pull them out from the text. This proved pretty difficult so we will continue to work on this as we go forward. I was also out of the class for two days for 6th Grade Camp. Student's worked on outlining a Newspaper Article, they will be getting a Completion Grade for that assignment, so if they did not complete that yet (Check the Google Classroom) That needs to be turned in. This week we have been working on Junior Achievement Career Fair booklets and prepping them for going on the trip to interview people in professions they are interested in. We have one more day where they will put their books together for what they will be asking on Friday. This week will be a Completion Grade for how hard they worked on the books and how much they completed. You will Also receive an email from me tomorrow that reminds you that your students will be going on this trip and what is expected with regards to proper attire and behavior, please take a moment to talk to your students about the importance of events like this.. Hopefully you all turned in the permission slip that was sent home and that you have returned the Emergency Contact forms as well so that we can continue to have these types of events with your students. As Always keep checking the calendar on the Team Valor page on the Rogers Middle School Quick Links and if you have any questions to please reach out to me. Thanks, Mr. D
Parents and Students,
I have today updated everything on my interactive notebook to have it completely up to date. I will be checking with all students tomorrow to check that they have everything uploaded and hopefully completed, so that when I put in more grades this week I am sure they are caught up. I have begun the process of adding parents to the google classroom as well, should for sure have that done by Saturday. I am also beginning to setup a Facebook page as well and will send home a note when it is done and add a button to this site to direct you to like the page and keep up with us in class. Lastly, students have started their Native Cultures project after a week of looking at artifacts from Cahokia Mounds and showing them the various ways that their culture was not so different from us today. Here is the link to the project's directions and how we will be grading their work: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ZPv-QCqfYOvvk6tuFNWtt_3CXnmTNm9KO-EPWs4KXp0/edit?usp=sharing As always if you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to contact me. Thanks, Mr. D Dear Parents and Students,
I have updated the Useful Links section of the website. I put a link to the Calendar for all four of our Team Valor teachers, that should be updated fairly regularly so you can check and see what assignments are due. We discussed today in our team meeting that we would keep this up-to-date. In order to access it, you should only need to click on the Calendar image in the Useful links section. When you look at assignments, they should say "Math," "SS" (for Social Studies,) etc. If for any reason this is not clear you are free to email me or leave a comment and I will do my best to address it as quickly as possible. Look forward to meeting many of you tomorrow at Open House from 5-8pm. Thanks, Mr. D |
